The Story Synopsis/Summary: This where we grab em in a page and a half. In present tense and with active descriptions and characters, we highlight your vision and your voice via the major events of the story complete with twists, turns, reversals, obstacles/hurdles and surprises.
The Syno-pitch: In the voice and tone of your script, this document gives a sharp overview of the actual story and then pitches the concept, core idea, and themes while adding a touch of the writer’s feelings and vision, clearly delineating to producers not only why this screenplay is a fresh take on the genre but why they will have to give it a read. A powerful two-for-one deal that sets clear exactly what is to follow.
One-hour Phone Consultation: Tell me your story and all about your screenplay, TV series, pilot or idea over the phone. First thing we do is to determine why and how unique and fresh the concept is: your voice, the conventions, your way of looking at this world. I will then discuss the issues with you; what is needed and why. Filling in the holes--providing and suggesting story and structural ideas of what would make the premise and draft complete and butt-kicking. We will not only talk character, dialogue, relationships, story, structure and all of the components therein but we will get a better idea on how you see it and how to implement your vision so it is fresh on the page. A great tool to not only flesh out and nail the concept but to iron out the trouble spots on an existing project. Rate is $100 per hour.
Studio Coverage/Long Coverage: A pointed and more detailed look at what is working in the script, what isn't and why with specific suggestions on how to improve the draft greatly in the revision. This includes a synopsis; 3 to 5 pages of comments in the areas of story, structure, dialogue, character & relationships, themes, and, genre considerations. Rates vary as per project. I have included a sample of Studio "Long" Coverage that I did for a producer who was considering investing in a script called "Shade" (below). The film did get made sometime and several rewrites later. Oddly enough, a few of my suggestions were incorporated. Written and directed by Damien Nieman with a cast that included Gabriel Byrne, Sylvester Stallone, Jamie Foxx and Melanie Griffith among others.
